From Blank to Bold: Luke McDonnell’s Fabox™ Mural

A Fabox™. A Blank Canvas. An Artist’s Imagination.

We commissioned mural artist Luke McDonnell to bring his creativity to Fabox™, turning dark exterior panels into a striking piece of original artwork.

Sweeping metallic tentacles, vivid reds and intricate painted reflections give the finished mural depth and movement. At its centre, a giant octopus holds a megaphone, with the Fabox™ identity incorporated into the composition.

We captured the project in two videos: an interview with Luke and a time-lapse following the transformation from the first outlines to the finishing touches.

From Blank to Bold

The time-lapse takes you back to the beginning, when the design is still a series of outlines on a dark surface.

As Luke works across the panels, those outlines develop into curling tentacles and reflective forms. Gold and silver tones create the illusion of a metallic surface, while deep reds bring contrast beneath the tentacles.

With ladders and paint cans alongside the work, the footage gives a sense of the mural’s scale and the detail involved in bringing the whole composition together.

A Structure with Its Own Identity

This collaboration explores one of the creative possibilities of Fabox™: using the exterior as part of the experience.

For a brand activation, pop-up shop or hospitality space, the finish can set the tone before a visitor steps inside. Original artwork gives that surface its own character, with details to discover up close as well as a composition that reads from a distance.
